San Antonio Employment Outlook


San Antonio is Growing!
San Antonio, Texas, has seen an amazing amount of growth in the past decade and more businesses continue to locate to this growing city. Because of this the employment outlook in San Antonio is positive. It is believed the job market in San Antonio is so strong because the job market is so diverse. The growth rate for 2004 saw 12,000 new jobs and this jumped significantly in 2005 to more than 18,000 jobs. It is believed by 2009 there will be close to 90,000 additional new jobs in the San Antonio area. That is some serious growth!

Currently, the sectors that offer the most jobs in San Antonio include tourism, government, transportation and utilities, educational and health services, as well as professional and business services. But, diversity is definitely playing a role in the job growth. Just take a look at the following sectors where thousands of new jobs will open up in the next few years: insurance, government, finance, trade, services, construction, and real estate.

As you can see, growth is anticipated to remain strong in the existing industries, but new sectors will experience growth, further strengthening San Antonio’s employment outlook.   Within a few years all of the sectors in San Antonio should offer a strong employment outlook.

Business Incentives Attract New Businesses
Many companies are interested in setting up shop in San Antonio because of the incentives in the area. 
The following incentives are just some of the reasons businesses choose San Antonio. First, the City of San Antonio’s Economic Development Department (EDD) offers incentives to businesses in order for them to choose this city. Some of these incentives include tax and fee incentives, financing, regulatory reductions, and even workforce development assistance.

The EDD works one on one with each company to develop an incentives package so they will choose San Antonio. And, it’s working because lots of businesses are relocating to San Antonio, and this means more jobs.

Another incentive is a state program called Texas Economic Development. This program focuses on bringing new business to the state of Texas through financing and other incentives. Many businesses that have barriers to obtaining the capital they need to start a company, are assisted through the Texas Economic Development program. There are many other incentives for businesses to set up shop in San Antonio as well.

The Employment Outlook in San Antonio is Bright
Those moving to San Antonio should not be worried about finding a job because the economic outlook is so positive. Job growth continues and more and more industries are relocating to San Antonio. So, no matter what your profession, finding a job in San Antonio, Texas should not be a problem.
