There are an unbelievable number of golf courses in and around San Antonio, Texas. Any golfer would feel as if it were a dream come true to have the opportunity to experience all the different courses this great city has to offer. And with the large selection and diversity of courses in the area, it’s no wonder San Antonio is moving up the list of the nation’s best golf destinations. No matter what your budget or how great a player you are you will find a course that complements you.

Combine the wide selection and diversity of golf courses with San Antonio’s beautiful weather, which is full of sunny days, and you’ll see that San Antonio is a great place for golfers. The following courses are some of the “must play” courses in San Antonio.

Hyatt Hill Country Resort
Rated the best resort golf course of the year by Golf Digest its first year out Hyatt Hill Country Resort is a must play for golfers. This Arthur Hills designed course was also nominated by Golf Magazine as one of the top ten courses to play. The Hyatt Hill Country Resort has a variety of par 3, 4, and 5 holes that are challenging to play.

Canyon Springs Golf Club
When in San Antonio the Canyon Springs Golf Club should also be on your list. It was ranked the eighth best golf course in the state by Golf Digest and was designed by Thomas Walker. With Flora Dwarf grass greens and Bermuda Tiff fairways, the course is 7,000 plus yards long and is a par 72.

Pecan Valley Golf Club
J. Press Maxwell designed the Pecan Valley Golf Club course originally. But, as the years passed the course needed a little revamping. Bob Cupp, golf architect, came in and redesigned the course with the help of $5.5 million. The nationally known course is now better than ever and definitely worth playing if you live in San Antonio.

La Cantera-Palmer Course
San Antonio’s very best course is the La Cantera-Palmer Course. With fast greens and troublesome water holes, the La Cantera is a challenge to even the best golfer. The par 72 course is designed with plenty of rolling hills that don’t give you any breaks. Breathtaking views are another benefit of playing this famous Texas course.

Quarry Golf Club
Keith Foster designed the Quarry Golf Club with an interesting design combining grasslands and a quarry. The two landscapes divide the course into the front nine and back nine and allows for a fun and challenging round of golf.

This is just a brief overview of some of San Antonio’s best golf courses. There are so many more that it seems like there is a course on every corner.
